Sailing school for 7-12 year old children is organised as seven day sailing camp. World well known sailing boat Optimist is used. Parallel to learning sailing skills attendees are benefiting by meeting new friends through organised social life.

In SCOR sailing camp children acquire the best what sport gives for life - independence and self confidence. Town of Cres and ACI Marina Cres give tranquil environment of unspoiled nature. Gorgeous beaches and naturally sheltered bay of Cres is ideal place to learn first steps in sailing.

Two coaches and one camp counsellor are taking care of children’s safety throughout daily routine. Fundamental sailing and how to steer a sailboat is learned in amusing and creative way in theory and practice.

Theoretical part is comprised of basic knowledge about the boat, its equipment and care, cloth and safety equipment, seamanship, winds on our sea and coast. Practical part prepares attendees for autonomous steering and racing in all directions related to the wind.

Each group has eight attendees. Accommodation and meals are organised at Pupils’ hostel in the vicinity of ACI marina Cres 50 m from the shore. Hostel is equipped with rooms of for beds and separate bathrooms for boys and girls.

Throughout entire stay one professional camp counsellor and two sailing coaches are taking care of children. Free time is filled up with various activities. After returning from the sea and after lunch children can engage in various plays at will. After afternoon sailing and supper other sport activities on the premises of hostel are organised like football, tennis, basketball, badminton. Every attendee is given sailing school’s T-shirt, race handbook of Optimist class and Exercise Book and diploma at the end of the course.

Gathering of attendees is in Rijeka every Saturday in July 2011 where seven day adventure starts on catamaran departing to Cres. It ends on the same spot next Saturday. Terms are:

• 09 – 16. 07. 2011.
• 16 – 23. 07. 2011.
• 23 – 30. 07. 2011.

Children are not entirely separated from parents. Thanks to internet and omnipresent Facebook attendees will publish everyday pictures and impressions from sailing and so will communicate with relatives and friends.
